Fort Montessori Academy (FMA) was started in 2010. We have been rated as Best Day Care in Murphy for 2 consecutive years by C&S Media. FMA provides Toddler and Pre- School Montessori programs, After School Care, Summer Camp and pick up from local elementary schools. FMA is affiliated with Fort Aquatics and Gymnastics and one of the very few schools to offer Gymnastics and Swimming Classes as part of its extracurricular activities. FMA is a family run business and has no other branches. The owners are available onsite on a day-to-day basis. We believe in serving the community and making a difference.
My name is Arun Meyyappan. I am the Owner and Director of Operations at Fort Montessori Academy. Thank you for taking time to visit our website and I look forward to meeting you soon. We have been around for 10 years and I sincerely thank our parents and children for supporting us all through these years.
I strongly believe that for a school to be successful – it needs to have three important aspects – good academic program, fun environment, and great teachers. The academic development at an early age is especially important to development of a child. These early years of education form a strong foundation, inculcates discipline, and gives a child great self-confidence. I also believe a child must have fun, have a great social environment and be physically strong. At Fort, we provide these aspects through swimming, gymnastics, yoga, music and art programs. Finally, for any school to be successful, it must hire the best teachers. I have taken great effort to ensure the best staff are hired and provide them work satisfaction and opportunity to grow, so that we can keep our teachers for a long time.
I worked in IT field for over 17 years. However, my passion was in education and being around children. I quit my IT job to start this business. I have a master’s degree from University of Oklahoma, and I am a Certified Montessori Teacher. I obtained my Director Certification from the State of Texas (DFPS) in 2010. I have two children and love playing tennis and going cycling. In my free time, I mentor young children to become entrepreneurs. I am an active volunteer in the following organizations NANBEN, Entrepreneurs Foundation of Texas, Scouting Troop 807, and US Swim School Association.
My name is Azia Lacy. I am the Assistant Director of Fort Montessori. I would like to thank you for taking time to visit our website and would like to welcome you to visit our school at your earliest convenience. At Fort Montessori Academy we strongly believe in allowing a child to explore and learn through the process of discovery. Childhood is precious and we want to make sure your child enjoys being a child. For a child to enjoy childhood, he/she must feel safe and secure and be loved. At Fort Montessori I create an environment to do just that. I encourage my staff to build personal relationships and bond with the child and the parent and make Fort Montessori feel like a home away from home.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Oklahoma State University.
I am a local resident of Murphy and have a daughter named Aaliyah. In my spare time, I love to be outdoors, read books, and try new food.
Our Teachers and Management staff work as one coherent family. Our staff and teachers absolutely love what they do. Our staff and teachers are passionate about their work and love the children they care for. At FMA we realize the most important thing a child needs at this age is love and care and that is what we encourage and train our staff to do.
